Come Experience Compass Prairie
Come visit us! You will have the opportunity to walk among numerous annual and perennial flowers thoughtfully grown mostly from seed at our flower farm. Our prairie will be open during our U-pick hours for people to wonder the various paths of our special remnant prairie ecosystem. This 10 acre area has never been plowed under—the soil has been left undisturbed. You will be seeing this piece of land as it was seen for hundreds if not thousands of years by American Indians and pioneers. Our prairie boasts over 100 native wildflowers and grasses. There are opportunities for small groups and school groups to have an opportunity to learn about this prairie ecosystem of which sadly only half of one percent still exists among the more than a half dozen states where prairie exists. We honor and recognize the First People who have called this area home for many centuries including the Kansa, the Osage, and the Shawnee among others.
